Born with a heart full of song, Denise had dreams of Broadway but was one of four children who did not make the elementary school choir. In middle school, she was told that she didn’t have talent. Undaunted, and with the support of her parents, she began voice lessons at the age of 12 and developed the discipline and skill to complete two music degrees, perform with major orchestras and conductors, complete four national opera tours, and teach voice at several colleges, including the Westminster Conservatory.
As founder of Sound Awakenings™, she has now shifted from opera to mantra and from orchestra to singing bowls. Also a certified sound healing teacher, yoga and YogaVoice® instructor, and energy healer, her life’s work is all about the study of breath and the effects of sound on body, mind, and spirit.
Denise travels regularly to India and has recently published her first novel, Journey to Sunyata—Mountains, Monsoons, and Magic, about her life-challenging pilgrimage to Nepal.
